Description
A Sleepy Orange butterfly, sipping nectar from yellow lantana flowers. The Sleepy Orange butterfly, Abaeis nicippe, is found in most of North America as well as the West Indies, Costa Rica and Belize. It is called a "sleepy" orange because of narrow black spots on its forewing coastal margin that is said to look like closed eyes.
This little beauty was found sipping nectar from my yellow lantana flowers in Southern Oklahoma.
